Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Temple) in Indore is situated at the Khandwa Road !! Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Temple) Indore, the head quarter of Shri LaxmiNarayan Dev Gadi, contains three main shrines !! The central shrine is consecrated by installing the idols of Shri LaxmiNarayan Dev !! On the right of this, idols of Shri Radha Krishna accompanied with Supreme Lord Shri Swaminarayan in the form of Shri Hari Krishna Maharaj are installed, and on the left of the central idol, idols of Shri Vasudev, Shri Dharmapita and Bhaktimata are installed !! The temple in Indore is also known as just 'Shri Swaminarayan' or 'Swaminarayan Mandir' !!
These idols in the temple were installed amidst the holy chants of Vedic hymns and devotional fervour of the installation ceremony !! This Indore Temple was been built at a cost of approximately ₹20 crores (₹200 million) in just under 14 months !! The beautiful oneand rocking Pink Dholpur Sandstone temple is constructed in a size of 110 feet X 75 feet, on a land of about one acre !! The height of the urn is 91 feet from the ground, with five towers or 'shikhas', four domes, and and the temple has a total of 238 pillars !! On these pillars, 90 statues of Saint Gandharvas have been placed !! The temple is also adorned with finely carved flowers, peacocks and balloons, out of the sandstone !!
100 artisans from Orissa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and the our own Madhya Pradesh state have worked tirelessly, day-in and day-out, to prepare it in this beauty in a short time !! The carvings done on the Padmashila on the top of the temple are really worth seeing !! The main gate of the Rajasthani and South Indian style temple is in the West direction, which also enables the passerby to see the idols even from the main road !!
In the temple, you can see Lord Krishna playing the flute, along with two big elephants and a cow at the door !! There also are four statues of lions at the North and South gates !! The carvings of the ceiling and the marble flooring are worth a dekko !! The artisans of Surat have also done Gold work on the main throne and all the urns on the top of the temple !! Along with the temple, the premises has a residence for the saints, as well as the devotees !!
In-charge of Swaminarayan Temple Indore, Swami Snehasagaradas Ji said that Swami Narayan God will be in the form of Ghanshyam, and a 5-feet idol of Ghanshyam form of Lord Swaminarayan Lord will be carved on the golden throne under the main peak !! After this, the idols of Radhakrishna and Lakshminarayan, who came from Jaipur under the summits of North and South, will be revered !! Apart from this, beautiful idols of Lord Hanuman and Ganapati and Shivling will be installed under both the shikhar at the entrance of the temple (with inputs from Naidunia) !!
