About Attraction

The rocking 'Lotus Valley' on the swamps/marshes of the famous Yeshwant Sagar Dam, in Gulawat village near Hatod tehsil (block) of the Indore district, has recently become a famous all-day picnic spot, from the onset of Monsoons until the beginning of Summer (March end) !! The swamps are set in a picturesque location, with densely-planted lotuses in the water bodies !!

It is a mesmerising site where you can see thousands of lotus flowers in bloom !! If you wish to see the lotus flowers in full bloom, you have to visit the place in the morning, between 8 and 11 AM (yes) !! Besides that time period, lotuses are not interested in showing themselves to us ;) as they go into their own shell and relax !! Quite fascinating and that's how nature is !!

It has become popular for groups of people (families and friends), where they get their own food and drinks, and also organise small get-togethers (often the daal-baaflaa meal types) and enjoy spending time in the beautiful landscape !! The swamps are seasonal, which fill up after the Monsoon season !! Plantation includes tall Eucalyptus trees and Bamboos, along with the Indian lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) and the water lilies (Nymphaea Caerulea), known as the 'Blue Lotus' or 'Neel Kamal' !! To make it fun for the visitors, the villagers have loaded the area with unique swings made of wooden beds (khatiyaa) tied with very long ropes, to the tall trees !! Small, flat-bottom wooden boats (dinghy) are also available here, on which rides can be made available !! The rocking and beautiful place is full of bio-diversity and is also a heaven for photographers !! On a weekday, you may find men and women for pre-wedding shoots !!

And when you are here, you can also take blessings from Lord Hanuman at the 'Shri Raameshwaram Mandir' (temple) !!

In Gulawat, you can spend some quality time with your friends and family in the picturesque view of lotus flowers in bloom in the lap of nature !! Although there are no swanky cafés or restaurants here, there are a few kiosks and shops that villagers have set-up for the visitors !! The food, snacks (including sev-parmal, baked samosa....and Maggi) tea, coffee, fresh juices ganne-kaa-rus (sugarcane juice), fresh fruits and bhutta (grilled corn-on-the-cob), etc. here are of the basic type and are available at very reasonable prices !!

Don't miss the rocking beauty of this place !!
