Tekri is popular name for the highly-revered temple of Maa Chamunda and Tulja Bhavani Mata, located on a small hill at A. B. Road, Dewas !! Dewas is an industrial town at a distance of 35 km from Indore & 30 km from Ujjain, and can be reached easily via bus or train, available at regular intervals, from Indore and Ujjain !!
The Tekri is situated at an altitude of 300 ft above sea level and is mounted by a broad flight of slope way and stone steps !! The hill has a temple of deities Devi Tulja Bhawani, Chamunda Mata and Kalika Mata witnessing the scenic beauty of this small town !! The word Dewas is also believed to be an amalgamation of words Dev (deity) and Vas (residence) !!
The temple can be reached either via a slope-way or via stairs !! In case of immobility of guests, vehicles can be arranged to reach till the gateway of the temple, after taking permission !!
Now the long-awaited 400 meter long and 110 meter high from road - Rope-Way facility have started !! Isn't it exciting to reach via rope-way while enjoy the scenic beauty of Dewas !! Rope-way station is in ready stage !! Each cabin can accomodate 4-6 devotees !!
During Navratri festival, hundreds of devotees travel to Dewas from Indore or other places, to visit the shrine, barefoot !! They endure the pain of walking such long distances without any footwear, only to seek the blessings of the goddesses !!
