About Attraction

Cascading waterfalls from a height of approximately 300 feet make for an awesome picnic spot at Paataalpaani (Patalpani) !! The picturesque and calm ambience around the waterfalls, set amidst lush Greenery, is worth a visit, during and after monsoons !! The depth of the pool that is formed by the waterfall is considered to be so deep that it goes into the netherworld, and thus the name - Paataalpaani !! The exciting hill ranges and rugged terrain makes it a perfect place to also go trekking and hiking !! You may also get to see a lot of birds and even monkeys, here (though be careful with monkeys) !!

After monsoon, and during winters, it's the perfect place for a day-outing / picnic !! Like in most of such places, you'll have to carry your own food, drinks, mats, & even garbage bags !! There is only one small shop that serves tea, coffee, samosas, chips, and some other dry snacks too !! But, during the season days, there are hawkers selling regional produce including cucumber, imli (tamarind), bhuna chana (roasted Black gram), bhutta (roasted corn-on-the-cob), etc. !!

Although the Paataalpaani railway station (PTP) is just around 1 km from the spot, the metre-gauge (narrow gauge) trains are slow and very infrequent; you'll have to walk up the waterfalls spot from there !! The station is on the Ujjain-Khadwa route, and is just about 7-8 km after the Mhow station !! But here, you should not miss the one-of-its-kinds heritage journeys on the special and rocking Paataalpaani - Kalakund Heritage Train (click on the link to check details) !! Other public transport doesn't get you directly here, but the nearest bus-stop is around 6 km away !! Ample parking for your own vehicles is available there !!

However, like in most natural mountainous places, you need to exercise caution here !! Due to some unfortunate fatal accidents in the past, this place has become infamous, but you need to take full care and NOT go near water, or inside the stream !! Cliffs/edges have been protected with railings, but you can stay away from the edge !! IndoreRocks.com also strongly recommends that you DO NOT THROW ANY LITTER THERE and help keep the place neat, clean, Green, and natural !! You can always carry your garbage back, if there isn't proper disposal facility available !!

 "Beautiful place"

Best place for visiting..Patalpani is really very beautiful..

Best time to visit the waterfalls is during the rainy season.

A very good picnic spot.

The place is well designed with all the basic facilities and safety infrastructure in place.

Horse riding is also seen in this place.

Restaurants are not available there but snacks is available, villagers sell it for visitors.

 "Patal Pani"
If you visit Indore, Patalpani is an awsome place. Patalpani waterfall is 40 km away from Indore. If you are travelling on Bus. Bus service is only up to Maw. You have to take the help of taxi. Water season is better to visit here...

"Great place for a tour and picnic"
Paataalpaani is pretty famous among tourists and a great place to visit for a picnic or with friends. Though it can be dangerous to tread near the waters and accidents have happened, it is still one of MPs greatest attractions and is a great place to spend a day at.
